Daytona prostitute hacked in head with meat cleaver, police say

DAYTONA BEACH — Sandra Lynn Parker spent New Year’s Day in the hospital after police said a man the night before attacked her with a meat cleaver causing cuts to her face, head and neck.

The man snapped on New Year’s Eve because Parker, a Daytona Beach prostitute for more than three decades, refused his sexual advances, police said.

No arrest has been made, but Daytona Beach police on Thursday identified the suspect as 20-year-old Jorge Escribano.

Bloody clothes were confiscated and more blood was found at the scene of the attack, the corner of Segrave and Kingston avenues, police said. A beer can used by the suspect also was collected as evidence, according to an incident report.

Police said it could take months before the lab results come back.

During the night of Dec. 31, Parker entered a smoke store at Madison and North Ridgewood avenues and two males followed her inside, the report stated. She left the smoke store an hour later and headed north on Segrave when both males approached her, according to police.

Escribano grabbed her backside and asked for sexual favors, at which time Parker told him he was too young for her, police said.
