HAMDEN – A New Haven teenager, who had arranged to meet a ‘prostitute’ on State Street, ended up getting robbed and kidnapped.

When the 19-year-old arrived on State Street on Oct. 5, he was approached by two males.

“The males advised him that they were in the possession of a firearm, while rummaging through his pockets. They stole $140,” Capt. Ronald Smith said in a release.

“Shortly thereafter, the two males ‘forced’ the teen victim into the backseat of his motor vehicle. One of the subjects drove the victim’s vehicle, while the other sat with the victim in the backseat.

“They subsequently drove to several local ATM’s and stole an additional $600.00 from the victim’s bank accounts. The victim was then driven to a residence in New Haven, where he was released and his vehicle was returned.”

Detective John Marks conducted an extensive investigation, which led to the application of an arrest warrant for Daiquan Hyman. The court approved the arrest warrant application.

Last Friday, Hamden Police arrested Hyman at Meriden Superior Court.

Hyman, 19, of Welton Street, Hamden was charged with first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit, first-degree kidnapping with a firearm, conspiracy to commit kidnapping, second-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit larceny.

Hyman, who was detained on a court-ordered $250,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Feb. 1.
